Branch members met for lunch with Baroness Glenys Thornton
Branch members met for lunch with Baroness Glenys Thornton. The venue was the market hall at Villebois-Lavalette and over a fine lunch we discussed the leadership election, the General Election result and the EU referendum amongst other topics.
Glenys gave us an overview of how the Labour members of the House of Lords have worked together to defeat the Tories on nearly 100 Bills. She is a stalwart of the Co-operative movement, having worked for RACS and CWS for many years and was a junior Minister in the Lords. Glenys was General Secretary the Fabian Society and chaired the Social Enterprise Commission.
We hope to meet again at the same time next year.
